My great, great, great grandmother Mary McKee was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1853. She was the daughter of George McKee (1831 - 1888) and Janet Gegg (1830 - 1885).
George McKee, Mary's father, had a pub in Drumgelloch.
In 1871 Mary McKee ( a cotton mill worker) married William Walker (a miner) in Drumgelloch, a suburb of Glasgow. Some of their children, including Janet, were born in Scotland and some were born in New Zealand. They lived near Greymouth on the South Island West coast, where William worked as a coal miner.
