The Town family of Maidstone, Kent, England .....

My great, great grandfather was Charles Town Williams 1857 - 1934. He was born in Maidstone, Kent to John Williams and Matilda Williams (nee Town). John worked as a brewery labourer and Matilda was a milliner according to 1861 census.
They lived at 59 St Faith's street, Maidstone. Here is an old pub nearby which may have been their local - 'The Royal Albion'

Matilda's parents were Samuel Jeffrey TOWN and Elizabeth (nee Pierson/Pearson) they married in 1813.
I think Yalding is a suburb of Maidstone.
