We think that ETSY was born in Lambeth, London about 1834 and that his mother was Jane York nee SALE. No idea of his father's first name.
This may be Edward Thomas Sale York. We are not sure but this pic was found by a relative in a box of York family photos. Below is another photo of the same man possibly. I think it's ETSY because he bears a resemblance to his daughter Emma and his son Tom. Is he wearing the same jacket?
He traveled to Australia aged 21 in the 1850s to seek his fortune. Here is his obituary from the Beechworth newspaper (transcribed from original by a relative) click image to enlarge.
